If you want to change your school…. have staff who stay, students that learn and a school community which thrives. If you are concerned with restrictions on costs and limited time..
This is the school improvement plan for you. But you will need to brave and bold.
This plan is for the school leaders who care, are dynamic and want to make the UK school system better.
But I warn you I am breaking traditions and rewriting the rule book for the better. This school improvement plan is based on getting the best grades for students and making sure staff stay in their jobs long term. This will not add a long list of extra policies to your school, it will cut down paperwork and give quick and easy solutions to staff retention, neurodiversity, timetabling and address behaviour management.
It is based on the latest psychology, neuroscience and Catherine Wilson’s 20 years of experience of working in education.
Catherine has taught 32 different subjects, turns a grade 2 into grade 5… grade 4 into a grade 7 and believes in the true skill of quality pedagogy. She has a wealth of experience in assisting neurodiverse and anxious students in passing their GCSEs. Has been in to multiple school through out the school year for years. Plus Catherine has seen a lot of different subject lessons in mainstream when integrating EBSA back into school.
Due to Catherine’s unique career pathway, plus her own neurodiversity this is an out of the box plan… which targets schools as being able to achieve 80% of students getting a grade 4 and above in English Language and Mathematic GCSE….. if the whole plan is put in place. She has worked supporting leadership, understand SEND and school policies, spent years leading E-Safety, training staff in a plethora of subjects and is extremely positive, passionate and knows it is possible to turn the education system around.
School Improvement Plan
Episode 1:
Staff Retention
Three steps to getting it right and keeping staff in school. I really feel we need a huge push towards keeping staff in schools. I see it so often that staff are perplexed and overwhelmed as they have not been in the job for long enough. Personally I feel that this is not the best way to educate any teenager and see this as a reason for the behaviour issues they face.
Episode 2:
Neurodiversity
Not all children need a diagnosis, but parents lean on this as they are lost and want action. This is a solution that is easy, quick and will work for most K registered pupils. But also ensure good health across your school.
And yes.. this seems simple but all of the plan needs to be encompassed for all of your neurodiverse students to want to be at your school daily.
Episode 3:
Timetabling
Currently schools seem to be seeing intervention as the way forward to fix GCSE grades, I believe that good timetabling and the new developments in neuroscience are the solution. We are not showing students how to be healthy independent learners. Currently the inventions are for all and children are forced in to doing extra, when actually we need to give staff more time to teach better and mark with quality. Feedback is not a the forefront of teaching…
Episode 4:
Behaviour
We have to take responsibility for the huge amount of youth who are walking away from authority and choosing the wrong path. There are some incredible teachers and school leaders but they are individuals in schools, not the masses. What happened in schools during the pandemic is not what should be happening in school now.
How to implement the plan?
Decide what are your current weakest links:
Behaviour?
SEN support?
Teaching and learning?
Or all three, book a video call with Catherine Wilson, to start the process and make it happen for your school, staff and community.
I look forward to hearing from you. Fill in the form below.
